The Bangalore earrings are made with two 1965 25 Paise coins (which are worth ¼ of a rupee), hand-bezeled with a golden obsidian. The coins feature the Lion of Sarnath, the national emblem of India, which represents the country's vocation for peace and goodwill. Composed of four lions, this complex Buddhist symbol represents the journey to enlightenment.
This version of the Bangalore Earrings is made with golden obsidian. A volcanic stone found in Mexico, although it is cut and faceted in China. This stone gives the strength of the earth and the wisdom of the heavens. The golden veins that adorn this stone add a unique touch that contrasts incredibly with the golden rupees.
