Conscious and responsible consumption has never been more important. That's why at Olavarrieta, we are very proud to be a brand with sustainable environmental practices. Not only because we always try to use recycled materials and the least amount of packaging possible for our shipments, but also because one of our main pillars is UPCYCLING, a trend that refers to reusing objects considered trash to give them new life and create completely new pieces.
All our pieces with African beads come from recycled glass, so with every purchase you make of one of these pieces, you help us contribute to promoting more conscious and eco-friendly fashion consumption.
About KROBO BEADS:
The glass powder beads used in most of our designs come from Ghana. They began to be made by the Ashanti and Krobo tribes during the 1900s. They are made from recycled glass powder from broken bottles, vases, and other previously used glass items.
The glass powder is poured into a mold, which is then heated, and when melted, it forms the beads with different designs and shapes.
The beads play an important cultural role within the Krobo tribe, as they are used in birth, marriage, and death rituals, among others.
Each bead is unique, as they have traveled at least 2 continents and have had numerous owners to reach our hands, so they may have imperfections, which makes them even more unique and special.
Today is the ideal time to remind ourselves that we must pause, reflect, and take action for the care of our environment. Foster responsible behavior in your daily life. Remember that big differences start with small actions.
