UPCYCLED JEWELRY

Conscious and responsible consumption has never been more important. That’s why at Olavarrieta we feel proud to be a brand committed to sustainable practices. Not only because we strive to use recycled materials and minimize packaging in our shipments, but also because one of our core pillars is upcycling a practice that transforms objects considered waste into entirely new pieces, giving them a second life.
All of our pieces featuring African beads are made from recycled glass. With every purchase of these designs, you help promote a more conscious and eco-friendly approach to fashion.
About KROBO BEADS:
The recycled glass powder beads used in most of our designs come from Ghana. They began to be produced by the Ashanti and Krobo tribes in the early 1900s. These beads are crafted from recycled glass powder derived from broken bottles, vases, and other previously used glass objects.
The glass powder is poured into molds, which are then heated. As the glass melts, it forms beads with unique shapes and intricate designs.
Beads hold deep cultural significance within the Krobo tribe, as they are used in rituals such as birth, marriage, and death, among others.
Each bead is truly one of a kind. Having traveled across at least two continents and passed through many hands before reaching us, they may carry small imperfections—details that make them even more unique and meaningful.
Today is the perfect moment to pause, reflect, and take action in caring for our environment. Encourage responsible habits in your daily life. Remember, meaningful change begins with small actions.
